Japanese Inspired screen doors

for - Can’t Break Your Hip House, Blue Mountains, NSW - Dharug & Gundungurra Country

Hand-made by Bobbie, the beautiful sliding fabric doors are a Japanese and Bojagi inspired technique. These doors to the main bedroom of the house are made from possibly the only 100% Australian Cotton supplier, grown and manufactured in Australia. The coloured sections are linen and cotton fabric offcuts and are looped over a timber batten which is tensioned via a bolt and threaded hole in the steel and timber door frames.

A light filtering door was an important addition to allow the north-facing hallway to add to the bedroom width and still provide light when closed.
